For the last couple of months, I have been doing Communications and Media Relations for the Portland Film Festival. I have been communicating with the cinematography institutes in Argentina, Mexico and Spain, to bring Spanish films to our festival lineup. I am envisioning an all-day Spanish showing, where the Latino population of Portland can enjoy films in their mother tongue. As a foreigner, I understand what it feels like when a film transplants you into a world you once were a part of. The sounds, the colors, the architecture; nothing can evoke such strong feelings of nostalgia as a movie.
