I wrote this on my first day at OPB. It was a small and fun piece, perfect for the first day nerves. I even got to leave the office to take photos of the PSU solar panels on a bright summer day. What a day!

I got sent to Fort Vancouver to witness the Cowlitz canoe ceremony. I did not know what to expect, and I was surprised by the love and sense of community among these people. They even invited me to their dinner feast! Salmon and traditional treats. Too bad I could not stay…

Kids & Blazers at the Children’s Museum

Trail Blazers fans officially welcomed the new draft picks in a press conference held at the Children’s Museum this week.

When the press had a chance to ask questions, a moment of silence invaded the event. “How tall are you” said Tony. Even though kids were not allowed to ask questions, he was not afraid to step forward.

Tony was one of dozens of kids that went to the museum to meet the new stars.

Ballot delivery in Salem

April Baer went to cover the ballot dropout in Salem, and I was there to take photographs for her. Watching people arrive with their boxes of ballots and a huge smile on their faces was quite powerful. Most people talk about change, and feel that presidential elections bring that, yet they fail to see how important it is to be involved in a local level to make that change happen.
